Argentine fútbol report

  Antonio Ubaldo Rattin, a name that strikes fear in to the heart of any Englishman (well, any Englishman interested in 1960's football) for that particular incident in the 1966 world cup quarter finals against England. A player arguing with a referee about how that player feels that the red card he is receiving is unjust is perhaps not an unusual event. However this is 1966 and although the game of football association had been in existence for around 100 years, the yellow and red card was not part of the game. This is how the problem came about with Rattin refusing to leave the pitch and eventually being escorted of the pitch by police!!   Vélez thrashed River Plate (U), in the 2024 Río de la Plata Series vélez thrashed   River Plate of Uruguay  4-1 in the competition of the  2024 Rio de la Plata Series  and in the continuity of the preparation for next season.  The match was played at the  Campeones Olímpicos Stadium and vélez managed to turn it around after a bad start conceding a Norman Rodríguez's goal. I was lucky enough to spend some time in Argentina just before Christmas and managed to go on the stadium tour a Argentinos Juniors. The experience was fantastic and a great club in Buenos Aires that next time I visit I will definitely be going to the stadium for a game!!   Boca juniors 1-0 Gimnasia y Tiro Boca won 1-0 against Gimnasia y Tiro en Salta in La serie Río de la plata  in what was the debut of new manager   Diego Martínez, the man chosen to lead the  Xeneize into the new season. The only goal coming from  Ezequiel Bullaude , in the 8th minute of the match. After Marcos Rojo suffered an injury during the warm up it was a debut for the new defender Cristian Lema. After becoming increasingly injury prone in recent times and linked with a move to Brazil last month it will be interesting to see how the new centre back performs this season.   La serie Río de la plata 2024 Liverpool (U) 1 - 1 Rosario Central The summer pre season tournament continued earlier n Montevideo, for la serie Rio de la plata 2024, the team managed by Miguel Ángel Russo drew 1-1 with the Uruguayans, but held out for a win on penalties 7-6 in Esatdio Belvedere.
