San Lorenzo advance in the Copa Argentina

  SAN LORENZO won with ease and advance in the COPA ARGENTINA El Ciclón won 2-0 against Chacarita with a double from Iván Leguizamón. SAN LORENZO won 2-0 a CHACARITA in the  Brigadier Estanislao López de Santa Fe  and now advance into the last 16 la Copa Argentina. El Ciclón took control of the game early on with 2 goals from the Paraguayan Iván Leguizamón, the first being a golazo from about 25 yards out and the second with a heavy deflection from the defender and then looping over the Chacarita goalkeeper. After that the game never getting out of second gear and a comfortable win for San Lorenzo . Chacarita  ended the game with only 10 men after Matías Belloso saw red late on for lashing out in frustration, the son of the president of Rosario Central.

San Lorenzo 0-1 Sarmiento

  SARMIENTO acheive an unprecidented victory in EL NUEVO GASÓMETRO Sarmiento win with a 1-0 victory against San Lorenzo in the 4th round of the La Liga Profesional. Sarmiento dealt another blow to San Lorenzo as their slow start to the Liga Profesional continues. The only goal of the game came in the 70th minute of the second half and was scored by   Manuel García.    El Ciclón had won 5 games against Sarmiento in  el Nuevo Gasómetro  (0-3 in 2015; 1-2 in 2016, 0-1 in 2017, 0-1 in 2021 y 0-1 in 2024) and also a draw  (1-1) en 1981 in  el estadio de Ferro . So the shock cannot be underestimated here with Sarmiento gaining their first victory in  el Nuevo Gasómetro. The overall history now stands at 12 games played, 3 victories to Sarmiento, 7 to San Lorenzo and 2 draws.

  Antonio Ubaldo Rattin, a name that strikes fear in to the heart of any Englishman (well, any Englishman interested in 1960's football) for that particular incident in the 1966 world cup quarter finals against England. A player arguing with a referee about how that player feels that the red card he is receiving is unjust is perhaps not an unusual event. However this is 1966 and although the game of football association had been in existence for around 100 years, the yellow and red card was not part of the game. This is how the problem came about with Rattin refusing to leave the pitch and eventually being escorted of the pitch by police!!
